All
original graphics were designed using provided cartoon sketches for
illustrations. Because the illustrations are an important part of
the product, the site and graphics were designed to be basically black
and white with a 'comic' font for the text and a 'comic' font for
all graphic text. |
 |
The
site is hosted on a on a Windows 2000 server. The backend database
is ODBC for the time being, and all programming for site administration
and member areas was custom written using Cold Fusion. |
 |
Because
the important deliverable product for this site is a HIGH QUALITY
printable document for distribution, we designed an interface between
the ODBC database with the member's custom information and Adobe Acrobat
pages. When the member visits the site to print their weekly 'sheet',
the site knows what the current week is and builds the printable Adobe
Acrobat document on the fly using the most up to date information
from the members entries in the database. Acrobat was selected as
the delivery medium because it prints CONSISTENT high quality documents
regardless of the client hardware/software(browser) combination. |
 |
Membership
signups and account maintenance, including online credit card verification,
were all custom programmed and automated using Cold Fusion to minimize
the amount of administrative intervention in running and maintaining
the site. |

Business
tips on the home page and the associated supporting text on subsequent
pages are all served from the database. Dr Stretch is able to upload
and update the business tips whenever they feel like it by filling
in a simple form. |
